Lens-Artists Challenge #336 – Only One Picture

This is my first entry into the Lens-Artists Challenge, a weekly photography challenge on WordPress. This week’s challenge, as set forth by Leya, is to use only ONE picture. One that you find important, meaningful to you, maybe sending a message – and then explain why you picked just that picture.

Here is my one photo:

I took this photo in Aveiro, Portugal. We were enjoying a traditional Moliceiro boat ride through the city’s canals. I’m afraid I don’t have much of a story as to why I chose this photo. Other than simple joy. This little boy’s infectious smile, and his sweet interaction with his mom, pulled my focus. The family didn’t speak any English. The boy caught me looking at him, and so I waved and smiled back – the universal language of kindness.

Cheers!

  1. I absolutely love your choice! A wonderful, trusting, fun relationship twixt mother and son is palpable . . . and heartwarming to see . . .

  2. Welcome to the challenges! That smile made me melt…what a sweetie! And his mother smiled back at him – their eye contact reveals they are in good company. Well chosen picture – the warmth it sends is much needed these days.
