Ludlow, England ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ

Shooters have the day off today. A tweed-free day.

Hereโ€™s something Iโ€™ve never seen in the US: rhubarb yogurt. Was delicious. In Wales, they grow rhubarb underground in caves and pick it by candlelight. This makes the rhubarb sweeter. So if you are not growing your rhubarb this way, you are doing it wrong.

Decided to visit the medieval town of Ludlow, England. There is a castle here that dates back to William the Conqueror. Not in a castle mood, so just viewed from below.

Took a walk about town. Dogs are welcome everywhere here. But there are rules.

Wondered what would happen if you hung pheasants outside of a butcher shop in the US. Entirely possible we (not me) shot those yesterday.

Oh! Meet Ruth Francis. We chatted with Ruth Francis outside of the butcher. When Ken said he was originally from California, Ruth Francis said she lived there for two years and loved it. And then she says, โ€œCan I give you a hug?!?โ€ So charming.

On an absolute cider binge this week. Had lunch at a pub dating back to 1354. We need more/better pub culture in the US. Was told the pub has a monk ghost. Did not see him. Have had such bad luck with ghosts this trip.

Found a house that really challenged my need for balance and symmetry.

Popped into St. Laurence Church, which dates back to the 1100s. In some of these little European towns, if you ask nicely (or offer to donate) you can climb the cathedral bell tower. Ken has never met a castle/bell tower he didnโ€™t want to climb. Iโ€™ve climbed my share of medieval bell towers. I get it: several hundred steep, uneven, spiral, stone stairs in a dimly lit space built for a 3rd grader. You have aaallll the fun, Ken. He gets done and says: โ€œOh, you would have fucken hated that!โ€

Cool pic from the top, though.

Cheers!

  1. Oh I love England. Great structures, both symmetrical and not! Iโ€™m a huge cider fan. I think itโ€™s getting more popular where I live. Iโ€™m a huge fan of a Swedish cider called Rekorderlig.
