Hunters were back at it today. Not-hunters had another day of touring with Ian the Legendary.
Visited Blair Castle in Pitlochry. The same family has owned this estate since the year 1249. Couple of random Blair Castle observations: They dressed for dinner. Uncomfortably. There’s also a creepy-ass doll in the children’s nursery. Sweet dreams.
Stopped at a neolithic stone circle called Croft Moraig. Tried not to overthink how they got those rocks there, or why. Here’s a pic of Ian the Legendary waiting for us to get organized for a photo.
We were all pretty beat, so Ian took us on a one-lane road “shortcut” back to our lodge in Dunkeld. The kind of road only locals know about. Because tourists would kill themselves on it. Wee bit dodgy in spots. Pretty sure we drove to the top of Scotland. But I got some good pictures of how beautiful it is around here.
Here a sheep, there a sheep, everywhere a sheep sheep. Found a couple of sheep who somehow wandered outside of their pasture. They surprised me and stood still for a picture.
Have learned that there is no direct way to get anywhere in Scotland. If something is 8 miles away, it will take 50 minutes to get there. These are called Scottish Miles.
Ian says Scottish pheasants are stupid and there’s no need to shoot them. They will just run in front of your car and commit bird suicide. Can verify this is true.
Went to a Scottish pub after dinner tonight to listen to Scottish trad musical session. It’s a loose association of musicians who get together to play folk music. The musicians filed in one by one, got themselves a pint, sat down and just started playing. An incredible, joyful experience! (Video w/ sound on my story.)
