Ship docked in Dubrovnik at 7am. Didn’t have to tender – yaaay!!
Grabbed a taxi and headed to the old town. Quite a bit of Game of Thrones was filmed in Old Dubrovnik. You can buy ANY GoT tchotchke your heart desires here. My heart desires zero. Had breakfast next to King’s Landing.
Walked through a farmers market and bought some lavender essential oils. Lavender is huge here. Girls bought some delicious looking candy – giant strawberry meringues. NOT delicious. Inside was a very stale marshmallow. Right into the trash bin.
More jewelry shopping. Bought myself a bracelet and necklace made from the traditional Croatian Šibenik buttons, made from intricate metal filigree, which used to be found on mens folk costumes. Today, they’re mostly made into jewelry. Bella found more cats.
Last night on the ship. Went off-book to the one of the “pay” restaurants on board – Brazilian steakhouse. We’re all buffet-d out. Good dinner; potential for meat sweats later is high.
Beautiful sunset tonight. I tried to go outside and take photos, but the upper decks of the ship are closed for high winds. So pretend there’s a beautiful picture of a sunset at sea.
We arrive back in Trieste, Italy tomorrow morning. Then the trek back to Venice for one extra day of Italian food, wine, and photos. Coffee on board this ship is legit awful. Looking forward to proper coffee in Venice.
Then: HOME!!
