Had ourselves a DAY today. Did ALL the things.
First: Guatemalan coffee IS all that and a bag of chips. Freaking delicious. Had a traditional Guatemalan breakfast – eggs on top of fresh corn tortillas with some kind of yummy sauce situation, with beans and plantains.
Walked and walked and walked around Antigua today. 23,700 steps. The streets in this town are all made out of wildly uneven, ancient cobblestones. These are kick your ass break an ankle kind of cobblestones. If I leave here on crutches, no one will be surprised.
Traditional Guatemalan textiles are next level beautiful. So vibrant and festive. Took a few street pics.
Got thirsty from all the walking , so stopped for a cerveza. Gallo (rooster) is the cerveza of Guatemala. Mmmmm. Beer flavored beer. Must get Gallo t-shirts.
Adventure Kirsten moment: Went on a super jaunty ATV ride through the mountains around Antigua. Beautiful views from the top of wherever it is we drove to. Stopped for cocktails made by the best bartender in Guatemala. Seriously. This kid was goood. Not gonna lie, though, driving through rush hour traffic on the cobblestone streets of Antigua on an ATV while suicidal motorcycles zip around you on both sides is unnerving. Might have had another cocktail after we got back. For my nerves.
Sidebar: Our ATV guides, Gio and Diego were the absolute best. Both spoke outstanding English. And Diego peppered his English with “over yonders”, “I reckons”, and an occasional “y’all”. All courtesy of an ex-girlfriend from Texas.
Had dinner at 8:30, which is absurdly early in Latin America. But it lasted 3 hours, and now I’m delirious with exhaustion.
Buenas noches.

I am so glad you were there to document it all.❤️
It’s been so fun to look back at these adventures, amiga!!
