Quepos, Costa Rica šŸ‡ØšŸ‡·

Travel day: July 2, 2024

Humidity = 255% šŸ’¦šŸ„µ

Ken and the big kids went paddle boarding this morning. Rest of the group went zip lining. Even in vacation adventure mode, I’m skipping both of those activities.

The sloths we watched yesterday have not moved. In fact, they added a third sloth to the tree party. We were told they only come down from the trees once a week . . . to poop.

There is a critter here (not sure what critter) that sounds like a smoke detector losing battery power at 2am. Still investigating.

In today’s edition of WTF IS THAT?!? . . . meet the calllipogon beetle. Surprise: he flies!! Super grateful he decided to fly AWAY from me, or I *might* have lost my shit.

Highlight of my day: received a high-five from a local for my weak attempt at a conversation en EspaƱol. I’m fully aware it was a pity high-five, but I’m taking it just the same.

First monkey sighting!! Went out for a quick drink with Anna and Andrew. Monkeys swinging around in all the trees. Sooooo cool. Ordered a margarita, and got this blue-green situation. Asked (en EspaƱol) what flavor it was and was told, ā€œblue flavorā€. It was a weird drink.

Had tuna tuna tuna and tuna for dinner last night. The sashimi was as beautiful as it was tasty.

Evening drama: Andrew: ā€œAnna, don’t freak out . . . but there’s a big gecko on the wall above the bed.ā€œ Luke caught SeƱor Gecko with a pillow and evicted him back outside.

Critter count: 3 sloths 🦄 , 4 macaws 🦜, 4 geckos šŸ¦Ž, 7 iguanas šŸ¦Ž, 1 giant flying beetle 🪲, 3 monkeys šŸ’. Not even mentioning the mosquito count anymore. Assholes. 🦟

Salud!

  1. Well, I do like the look of that meat plate and don’t think the critter count too bad but whatever is on someone’s hand should be sent out of the door soonest methinks šŸ™‚ ! Oh, and no mosquitoes naturally . . .
