Mykonos, Greece 🇬🇷

Took a driving tour of some of the remote and quiet(er) parts of Mykonos this morning. This is an extremely DRY place. One cigarette butt tossed out a car window could ignite the whole island. I feel like Smoky the Bear has missed a campaign opportunity here.

There are over 1200 churches (or chapels) on the island of Mykonos. That’s roughly one church for every family living on the island. You can’t look in any direction without seeing one. They’re quite beautiful in their quiet simplicity.

Fanta Lemon is delicious. It’s basically sparkling lemonade. Must petition the Coca-Cola company for US distribution.

Had a traffic challenge this afternoon. Impossibly narrow road: One side was a stone wall, the other a trash truck. I braced for scraping sounds, but after folding in the mirrors on our van, we made it with a good 3cm to spare. Nothing to worry about.

Had lunch at a traditional Greek taverna in the inland village of Ano Mera. This place was straight out of the Greece brochure. It opened opened in 1953 – was like walking into a time capsule. I ordered some sort of meat from the open fire spit. Thought I would get a plate, but I got a literal meat mountain. Nothing else, just meat. Not gonna be short on protein today.

Went to a beach sushi bar tonight. Ordered their signature cocktail, the white princess. It came with a tiny wooden spoon. Wasn’t sure whether it was drink or dessert, to be honest. Beautiful walk along the beach to end the night.
